In a proud moment for Indian craftsmanship, Jin Jiji, a homegrown artisanal gin, has achieved a milestone few could have imagined — it has been declared the world’s best gin of 2025 at the internationally acclaimed London Spirits Competition. The gin earned an extraordinary 98 points, winning a Gold Medal and the highly coveted title of ‘Spirit of the Year’, beating over 500 entries from nearly 30 countries, including traditional gin powerhouses like the UK, USA, France, and Spain.
What makes Jin Jiji truly stand out isn’t just its bold win—but the heart of India infused in every drop. Unlike most Western-style gins, Jin Jiji celebrates its roots by blending Himalayan juniper, Tulsi (Holy Basil), Chamomile, and other locally sourced Indian botanicals. The result is a flavour profile that’s not only aromatic and balanced but deeply reflective of India’s rich heritage and biodiversity.
Behind this success story is the vision of Master Sommelier Ken Fredrickson and Indian spirits expert Ansh Khanna. Together, they set out to prove that India isn’t just a consumer of global luxury—it’s a creator of it. “India has always had the ingredients for world-class spirits,” said Khanna. “What we needed was belief, attention to detail, and craftsmanship. This award is not just a win for our team—it’s a celebration of Indian excellence.”
The name Jin Jiji itself is inspired by the Hindi word ‘Jijivisha’, which means a strong desire to live and celebrate life. This philosophy is deeply reflected in the gin’s vibrant character and international appeal.
Already gaining traction across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the United States, Jin Jiji has previously earned accolades at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC). But this latest recognition places it firmly among the best spirits the world has to offer.
In an industry long dominated by Western distilleries, Jin Jiji is a refreshing reminder that India’s spirit is not just rising—it’s leading.
