Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two new metro corridors in Delhi and lay the foundation stone for three additional corridors, marking a major expansion of the city’s public transport network.
The announcement was made by Rekha Gupta, who said the projects are valued at over ₹18,300 crore and are expected to significantly strengthen connectivity across the national capital.
Two Metro Corridors to Be Inaugurated
The Prime Minister will inaugurate two key sections of the Delhi Metro network:
Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line
Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park section of the Magenta Line
The 12.3-km Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur stretch includes eight elevated stations and is part of the Pink Line expansion.
With this addition, the Pink Line will extend to around 71.56 km, making Delhi the first city in India with a fully operational Ring Metro corridor.
The project also includes:
●A new bridge over the Yamuna River
●A double-decker viaduct carrying both metro tracks and a road flyover
●Foundation for Three New Metro Corridors
During the event, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase-V (A):
●Ramakrishna Ashram Marg – Indraprastha Central Vista Corridor
●Golden Line Extension: Aerocity – Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1
●Golden Line Extension: Tughlakabad – Kalindi Kunj
Officials said these corridors will further expand metro connectivity across Delhi and nearby areas.

Better Connectivity and Reduced Traffic
According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the expansion will help reduce traffic congestion, improve daily commuting, and control pollution levels in the city.
The new corridors are also expected to improve connectivity for commuters from the National Capital Region (NCR), including residents travelling from Noida and Faridabad.
The expansion will provide easier access to Indira Gandhi International Airport, benefiting thousands of daily travellers.
Officials believe the upcoming projects will play a major role in strengthening Delhi’s public transport infrastructure and regional mobility.
