BHUBANESHWAR: When it comes to investigating a technical cyber crime case in Odisha, Prasanta Kumar Parichha is the most sought after person. This Odisha police constable is a cyber cop by profession and a cyber security researcher by passion.
Prasanta Kumar Parichha has been working as a Police Constable in Odisha Police for the last 19 years. He is currently working in District Cyber Cell, SP Office, Gajapati (State-Odisha). He has been nominated as a Core Committee Member of the National Cyber Crime Training Center (NCTC), CYTRAIN of National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), New Delhi for the cyber crime course content review and development. The NCTC is recently formed by MHA, to provide Online Cyber Crime training for LEAs and Criminal Justice System.
He was honoured with Special Jury Award during National Cyber Policing Conclave 2021 for his contribution to cyber security awareness/training/ research and investigation.
He has completed MA (Public Administration), MA (Criminology and Police Administration), PG Diplomas (Criminolgy and Forensic Science/ Cyber Security/ Human Rights / Journalism and Mass Communication). Parichha has also completed so many Massive Open Online Courses / Distance mode courses on Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics domain. He has completed an Online One Month Cyber Security summer internship from Gurugram Police, Haryana under the active mentorship of Rakshit Tandon, top cyber expert and consultant of India.
Parichha has also completed an Online Diploma in cyberlaw, cyber law for police officers, data privacy law, facebook law, digital evidence master class, social media law master class from the Asian School of Cyber Law.
He is a Certified Cyber Crime Investigator (CCI+) from the Asian School of Cyber Law and a Certified Cyber Crime Intervention Officer (CCIO) from ISAC. He has attended nearly 100 above National and International seminars/ webinars / trainings on Cyber security.
He has contributed articles in journals on cyber crime investigation challenges for LEAs in India and Cyber Crime is a human rights violation in cyberspace. Parichha has contributed the 1st chapter – Introduction to Digital Forensics for the Book – “ Big Data Analytics and Computing for Digital Forensic Investigation”- Published by CRC Press, USA.
He has delivered Cyber Training at Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Bhubaneswar on Internet Crime and Email investigation to the officers from SI- Addl.SP.
He is a regular resource person of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Gajapati on Cyber Crime and Cyber Law Awareness. He has been assisting all Police officers / investigating officers of the district in cyber crime investigation. He has been appointed as a part-time academic counselor for Diploma / PG Diploma Cyber Security learners of Odisha State Open University for the last 5 years.
Parichha was conferred with “Yuva Acharya Award” (Young Faculty) BEEA Bharat Education Excellence Award 2021 on Teachers Day for his contribution to Cyber Security Teaching and Awareness. He has also been honoured with with “Cyber Crime Training Excellence Award – 2018 ” from NCS Bureau, Hyderabad.
