In India’s financial capital, where global brands thrive and luxury towers rise, even a glass of milk has turned into a silent health hazard. A shocking ground report from Kapaswadi area of Andheri West has exposed an openly operating adulterated milk racket, putting the lives of children, women, and elderly residents at serious risk.
What is being sold as “fresh milk” is allegedly nothing but a toxic chemical cocktail, carefully altered before reaching households.
How the Milk Mafia Operates
According to local sources, the adulteration does not happen at dairy collection centres. Instead, milk packets are first diverted to private hideouts run by milk mafias. Here, original sealed packets are opened and tampered with.
The process is alarming:
One litre of genuine milk is diluted with water
Harmful substances are added
The same milk is repackaged into two packets
Supplied to homes as “pure milk”
This means families unknowingly consume chemically altered milk every day, believing it to be safe.
Dangerous Chemicals Used in Fake Milk
Investigations reveal the use of highly unsafe substances, including:
●Detergent powder
●Urea
●Soap solution
●Refined oil
●Synthetic chemicals
These materials are used to mimic the colour, thickness, and foam of real milk.

Health Experts Warn of Severe Risks
Doctors have issued grave warnings, stating that long-term consumption of adulterated milk can slowly destroy the body from within. Reported and potential health impacts include:
●Kidney failure
●Liver damage
●Stunted growth in children
●Calcium deficiency in women
●Chronic stomach disorders
●Skin and eye infections
Medical experts say children are the most vulnerable, as their developing bodies absorb these toxins faster.
Children Drinking Poison, System Looks Away
Residents allege that despite repeated complaints, strict action is missing, allowing the illegal milk trade to flourish openly. Locals question how such a dangerous racket continues unchecked in a metropolitan city like Mumbai.
“Milk is the first nutrition a child receives. Turning it into poison is nothing less than a crime against humanity,” said a concerned resident.
Urgent Need for Action
Public health activists are now demanding:
●Immediate food safety inspections
●Strict action against adulterators
●Regular testing of milk supply chains
●Public disclosure of offenders
Until then, getting pure milk in Mumbai may remain a daily battle.
