In a significant move to improve safety and accessibility of public spaces, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has partnered with the Safetipin India Foundation to conduct a comprehensive safety assessment across Gurugram.
The collaboration aims to gather detailed data on public infrastructure, mobility, and safety conditions across various parts of the city. Officials believe the initiative will help improve urban planning and make public spaces safer and more accessible for residents.
Administrative Support for Surveys and Data Collection
Under the agreement, the Municipal Corporation will provide administrative assistance to the organisation carrying out the survey. This includes facilitating permissions for field studies, identifying locations for assessment, and sharing civic information such as ward boundaries and other relevant urban data.
Authorities will also coordinate with different departments to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
Officials said the study will help generate valuable insights about the current condition of public infrastructure and highlight areas that require urgent improvements.
MoU Signed in Presence of MCG Commissioner
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project was signed in the presence of Pradeep Dahiya.
Yash Jaluka represented the municipal corporation during the signing, while Kalpana Viswanath signed the agreement on behalf of the organisation.
Commissioner Dahiya said the initiative will generate critical data that can help authorities make better decisions regarding city planning and infrastructure development.

Data-Driven Approach to Build Safer Cities
According to Dr Viswanath, evaluating public spaces using a data-driven approach is crucial for improving urban safety.
The surveys will focus on several key aspects of city infrastructure, including:
●Street lighting conditions
●Safety of public areas
●Walkability and mobility
●Availability of public facilities
The findings will help authorities identify areas where targeted improvements are required.
Step Toward Better Urban Planning
Officials said the study marks an important step toward creating safer and more user-friendly public spaces in Gurugram.
The insights generated through the survey will help city planners prioritise infrastructure upgrades and implement policies that enhance safety, accessibility, and overall quality of life for residents.
