No PAN, Yet Crores in Property Deals: IT Raid Exposes Registry Irregularities in Noida

A major investigation has been launched after officials from the Income Tax Department conducted a surprise raid at the property registry office in Noida, uncovering Rs 3,035 crore worth of suspicious property transactions.
The raid exposed serious irregularities in property registration records, including cases where PAN numbers were missing, incorrect, or invalid in documents involving high-value financial transactions.
Authorities suspect that these discrepancies may point to large-scale tax evasion and financial irregularities in the region’s real estate transactions.

Sudden Inspection Triggers Panic in Registry Office
According to officials, a special investigation team from the Income Tax Department arrived at the sub-registrar office in Noida on Friday morning and immediately began examining records related to property registrations.
The sudden inspection reportedly created panic among employees, agents, and officials present at the office.
Investigators examined digital databases, physical documents, and older registry records, collecting evidence related to property deals carried out over several years.

Serious Irregularities Found in Documents
During the inspection, officials discovered several irregularities in property registry documents.
In many cases:
●PAN numbers were incomplete or invalid
●Incorrect PAN details were entered
●Some transactions had no PAN numbers at all
Under Indian financial regulations, PAN details are mandatory for high-value property transactions to ensure transparency and track tax compliance.
Officials believe that the absence or manipulation of PAN numbers could have been used to conceal the identity of buyers or sellers and avoid tax liabilities.

Special Investigation Team Conducted the Raid
The raid was carried out by a special team formed by the Income Tax Department.
Officials involved in the investigation reportedly include:
Dr. Vijay Singh – Joint Director
Sudhir Kumar – Income Tax Officer
Anand Kumar – Inspector
Tej Bahadur Mishra – Inspector
Manish Kumar – Staff member
The team carefully reviewed registry records and gathered evidence that may help uncover the full extent of the alleged financial irregularities.

Earlier Notices Ignored, Officials Say
Sources revealed that the registry office had previously been issued notices to correct faulty PAN details and update records.
However, officials claim that no significant action was taken despite repeated warnings, which is now being treated as serious negligence.
Investigators are examining whether registry officials, document writers, property agents, or other intermediaries were involved in facilitating these irregularities.

Investigation May Expand Across Uttar Pradesh
The findings have created a major stir across the state’s property registration system.
Authorities say the raid in Noida may be part of a larger investigation into property transactions across Uttar Pradesh.
Officials indicated that records from other sub-registrar offices in the district and nearby regions could also come under scrutiny in the coming days.
If the allegations are confirmed, strict action could be taken against those responsible, including government officials, registry staff, and property agents involved in suspicious transactions.
