In a large-scale enforcement action aimed at improving mobility and public safety, the Noida Authority carried out an extensive anti-encroachment drive across multiple sectors, removing illegal stalls, kiosks, and temporary structures from roads and sidewalks.
Teams from work circles 1 to 10 covered several areas, including Sectors 10, 44, 57, 69, and 72, along with Bhangel, Phase-2, and the Hosiery Complex. The operation focused on reclaiming public land that had been occupied by unauthorised vendors and makeshift shops.
Footpaths Reopened for Pedestrians
Officials said the drive was launched after receiving numerous complaints from residents, RWAs, and industry groups about blocked sidewalks and worsening traffic congestion. In many markets, hawkers selling clothes, food, and accessories had occupied footpaths, forcing pedestrians onto busy roads.
Using earthmovers and dumpers, enforcement teams dismantled wooden stalls, food carts, kiosks, and other temporary setups that narrowed carriageways and slowed traffic flow. Confiscated materials were loaded onto trucks while several vendors removed their belongings voluntarily.
Traffic Bottlenecks a Key Concern
Shopkeepers and commuters reported that illegal occupation of roadside space had significantly reduced road width, particularly in crowded commercial areas like Atta Market. Combined with on-road parking shortages, the encroachments often caused severe congestion during peak hours.
Authorities acknowledged the issue, stating that restoring clear carriageways and pedestrian paths was essential for smoother traffic movement and public safety.
Designated Vending Zones Offered
To balance enforcement with livelihood concerns, the Authority said it has developed authorised vending zones where street vendors can operate legally without obstructing traffic. Identified locations include sectors 18, 15, 19, 142, and Film City, with capacity for around 1,000 vendors.
Officials encouraged hawkers to apply for these zones to avoid future eviction drives while ensuring orderly commercial activity.

Challenge of Repeat Encroachments
Residents noted that similar drives in the past have provided only temporary relief, as vendors often return to the same spots within days. Authorities said regular enforcement will continue to prevent re-encroachment and maintain public spaces.
The crackdown signals a renewed push by the Noida Authority to reclaim roads and sidewalks, improve urban mobility, and create a safer environment for pedestrians and motorists alike.
