In a major relief for commuters battling damaged roads and traffic congestion, the Noida Authority is preparing to launch a large-scale road resurfacing drive across several sectors of the city. Officials said the worst-affected stretches — particularly in circles 1 to 5 — have been identified and will be taken up on priority once the tendering process is completed.
The initiative comes after months of complaints from residents about potholes, surface wear, and deteriorating road conditions caused by prolonged rains and delayed maintenance.
Circle-Wise Tenders Issued for Simultaneous Work
According to officials, tenders are being issued on a circle-wise basis to speed up execution. Work will begin as soon as bidding formalities are completed and agencies are finalised.
Authorities plan to carry out repairs simultaneously across multiple circles to ensure the project is completed within a defined timeline. A phased traffic management strategy is also being prepared to minimise disruption to daily commuters during construction.
Officials confirmed that circles 1 to 5 have suffered the most damage, with several roads reporting severe surface deterioration and pothole formation.
Damaged Layers to Be Replaced with Stronger Bituminous Surface
The engineering department will first remove the damaged top layer of the road before laying a fresh bituminous layer. In stretches where the underlying base has weakened, strengthening work will be carried out prior to resurfacing to ensure durability.
Experts say such structural repairs are crucial to prevent repeated damage during future monsoon seasons.
Footpaths, Dividers, and Pedestrian Safety Also on Agenda
Beyond resurfacing, the project will include repair and reconstruction of footpaths, many of which have deteriorated over time. Road dividers will also be repainted to improve visibility, especially during nighttime driving.
Officials noted that damaged pedestrian pathways pose safety risks, and restoring them will enhance walkability and reduce accidents.
Residents Hope for Swift Action
Many residents expressed relief at the announcement but urged authorities to implement the plan without delay.
“Since the rainy season, roads across the city have been badly damaged. Dug-up stretches and potholes cause traffic jams and daily inconvenience. We hope the authority completes resurfacing soon,” said Amit Chauhan, a resident of Sector 73.
Commuters have long complained that poor road conditions not only slow traffic but also increase vehicle maintenance costs and accident risks.

Work to Begin After Contractor Selection
Officials said tenders for several stretches are already underway, and work will commence immediately after contractors are finalised. The authority aims to complete the resurfacing before conditions worsen further.
If executed efficiently, the drive could significantly improve mobility, safety, and overall urban infrastructure in Noida.
