Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL) has announced that repair and upgradation work on the DND Flyway will resume from mid-February, with completion targeted by March. The project had originally begun in October last year but was delayed due to GRAP-IV restrictions and adverse winter conditions affecting bituminous roadwork.
The DND Flyway, a critical arterial link between Delhi and Noida, caters to over 2.5 lakh commuters daily.
Why the Project Was Delayed
Officials said the delays were primarily due to:
●Restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-IV)
●Low winter temperatures affecting bitumen quality
●Transportation and material availability challenges
●Limited safe execution windows for carriageway works
●Bituminous works require specific ambient temperature levels to ensure proper bonding, durability and long-term performance, making winter months particularly challenging.
Project Scope and Current Status
According to NTBCL:
●Around 70% of the work involves road and carriageway upgradation
●Remaining sections are under progress
The company is coordinating with contractors and suppliers to streamline material supply
The focus areas include engineering quality, commuter safety and minimising traffic disruption during execution.
