‘Nothing Has Changed’: Residents Slam Repeated Garbage Dumping in Noida

Residents and commuters in Noida have once again raised serious concerns over illegal garbage dumping and encroachments along a key stretch, alleging that despite multiple complaints and previous clean-up drives, the issue continues to resurface.
Locals say heaps of waste have started piling up again, creating foul smells and unhygienic conditions in the area. The dumping of garbage along the roadside has not only turned the stretch into an eyesore but has also raised concerns about public health and sanitation.
“We have complained earlier as well, but nothing has changed,” said Surjeet Singh, a resident who frequently uses the affected road. According to him, authorities clear the waste occasionally, but the relief is short-lived. “Within days, the garbage returns. There is no strict monitoring or action against those responsible,” he added.

Encroachments Narrowing Roads, Adding to Traffic Chaos
Residents said that illegal encroachments along parts of the stretch have further reduced available road space. Combined with garbage accumulation, the situation has led to traffic congestion and safety risks for pedestrians and motorists.
Commuters claim that vehicles are forced to slow down or divert around dumped waste, increasing the chances of accidents. With no proper enforcement or surveillance, the stretch continues to attract fresh dumping.
Locals have urged the concerned departments to:
●Clear the accumulated garbage immediately
●Remove illegal encroachments permanently
●Deploy regular monitoring teams
●Install CCTV cameras to prevent dumping
●Impose strict penalties on violators
They say only consistent enforcement can bring long-term relief.

Authority Promises Action
Responding to the concerns, Noida Authority officials said necessary steps would be taken. “Waste and garbage found in areas falling under the Noida Authority’s jurisdiction will be cleared,” said RK Sharma, project engineer, health department, Noida Authority.
He added that the authority would act wherever the affected stretch falls within its jurisdiction. However, residents argue that coordination between departments is essential to prevent delays due to jurisdictional confusion.

Call for Accountability
Residents say that unless accountability is fixed and regular inspections are conducted, the problem will continue to recur. They are now demanding sustained monitoring and stricter enforcement rather than one-time clean-up drives.
With public frustration growing, all eyes are now on the civic authorities to see whether this time the action translates into a lasting solution rather than another temporary fix.
