In a landmark decision to revamp India’s agricultural landscape, the Union Cabinet has approved the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, a transformative scheme that will develop 100 agri-focused districts across the country, directly benefiting 1.7 crore farmers.
With a massive annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore, the scheme will converge 36 ongoing schemes from 11 ministries into one streamlined mission aimed at boosting productivity, improving irrigation, and ensuring better credit access for small and marginal farmers.
What the Scheme Promises:
Crop diversification & sustainable agriculture
Panchayat & block-level storage solutions
Better irrigation infrastructure
Enhanced credit access (long & short-term)
District-wise implementation backed by tech and mobile apps
This six-year programme (FY26–FY31) draws inspiration from the successful Aspirational Districts Programme, focusing on low-performing regions. Each state will nominate at least one district with low productivity and limited credit flow.
The scheme will also launch a dedicated mobile app to provide farmers with real-time updates, scheme details, and agricultural best practices in one place—marking a major digital leap in farmer empowerment.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the scheme as a “holistic approach to ensure no farmer is left behind and every district gets tailored support to reach its full agri-potential.”
