Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spotlighted India’s transformative journey in port development, sharing an insightful article that underscores how the nation’s ports are evolving into global commerce hubs.

The article, originally posted by Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, celebrates the strides India has made through expansion, mechanisation, digitisation, and streamlining the Ease of Doing Business in maritime trade.

Responding on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi remarked:

“Union Minister Shri @sarbanandsonwal highlights how India’s ports are evolving into global commerce hubs… Major shipbuilding companies are now partnering with Indian firms, paving the way for more jobs and investment.”

Transforming India’s Maritime Future

With projects like Sagarmala, smart logistics systems, and world-class infrastructure upgrades, India’s port sector is experiencing a modern renaissance. Enhanced operational efficiency, cargo handling automation, and foreign collaborations are turning ports like Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Visakhapatnam, and Cochin into high-performing global maritime assets.

The ongoing efforts are not only boosting international trade but also creating massive employment opportunities and attracting significant FDI (Foreign Direct Investment).
