In a major security breakthrough ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police have dismantled an interstate illegal arms syndicate operating across the National Capital Region (NCR) and neighbouring states. The crackdown, carried out under “Operation W,” led to the arrest of multiple suspects and the seizure of a large cache of illegal firearms and ammunition.
According to senior police officials, the operation was launched as part of heightened security measures to prevent any potential threat during national events. The network was actively supplying illegal weapons across Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and nearby regions, raising serious security concerns.
Weapons Seized, Accused Taken Into Custody
During coordinated raids conducted across Delhi and Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), police teams recovered several pistols, country-made firearms, and live cartridges. Investigators believe the seized weapons were meant for use in organised crime, including extortion, contract killings, and gang rivalries.
Multiple accused have been taken into custody, and sustained interrogation is underway to trace the supply chain, weapon sources, financiers, and possible links with criminal gangs operating in the NCR.
Interstate Network Targeted
Police officials revealed that the syndicate functioned through a well-organised interstate network. Arms were allegedly procured from illegal manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh and supplied to criminals in Delhi and adjoining areas. The operation involved close coordination between district police units, intelligence teams, and special task forces.
“This is a significant blow to the illegal arms supply ecosystem ahead of Republic Day,” a senior officer said, adding that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

Republic Day Security Strengthened
With Republic Day approaching, security agencies across Delhi are on high alert. Officials said that dismantling such networks is crucial to ensuring public safety during large gatherings, parades, and national celebrations.
The police have intensified surveillance, vehicle checks, and intelligence-based operations across the capital to prevent any untoward incidents.
Investigation Ongoing
Delhi Police confirmed that further probes are underway to identify additional associates, recover more weapons, and uncover whether the syndicate had links with terror modules or organised crime groups beyond NCR.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity.
