President Droupadi Murmu, India’s first tribal woman President, today completed three impactful years in office, celebrating the occasion by unveiling a series of inclusive, digital, and citizen-friendly initiatives from the heart of India — Rashtrapati Bhavan.
To mark this milestone, Rashtrapati Bhavan has been officially declared a Divyangjan-Friendly Estate, becoming a beacon of accessibility and inclusion. This transformation comes after implementing 50 key recommendations by the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, covering the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan, and Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum.
Another landmark step was the launch of Rashtrapati Bhavan’s official websites in 22 Indian languages, promoting linguistic diversity and making crucial information accessible to people across India. Citizens can now explore the grandeur and updates of the President’s office in their mother tongue through rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in and presidentofindia.gov.in.
In her commitment to welfare and transparency, the President also launched E-Upahaar Season 2, an auction of over 250 unique gifts received from dignitaries and the public. Proceeds from this auction will go towards supporting children’s welfare programs — reflecting her dedication to social causes. Interested citizens can participate via upahaar.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in.
Several new public amenities were also inaugurated, including:
Visitor Facilitation Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan
Nilayam Nikunj at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Hyderabad
Cafeteria, Souvenir Shop & Reception at Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra
Renovated Gym for estate residents
Additionally, President Murmu launched a beautifully curated e-book documenting her past year of public service, and announced the beginning of a visionary project to make Rashtrapati Bhavan Net Zero by March 2027, a bold step in environmental stewardship.
In her address, the President expressed satisfaction over the increased public participation and engagement with Rashtrapati Bhavan and emphasized the commitment to connect every section of society, especially the marginalized, to India’s development journey. “It is heartening to see the Rashtrapati Bhavan becoming more accessible and inclusive. I’m confident more people-centric initiatives will unfold in the future,” she said.
President Murmu’s third year in office reflects a legacy of empowerment, inclusion, sustainability, and digital progress — setting a remarkable benchmark for leadership from the highest office in the land.
