Hundreds of children from economically weaker sections are still waiting to secure admission in private schools in Noida despite being allotted seats under the Right to Education Act.
According to officials, 734 students in the district are yet to receive admission even after their names appeared in the official allotment lists under the 25% quota reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students.
Seat Allotment Done, But Admissions Delayed
The Basic Education Department conducted two phases of application and lottery for admissions under the RTE quota this year.
During the process, 2,231 children were allotted seats in private schools across the district. However, many parents claim that their children have not yet been admitted despite being selected in the lottery system.
Parents alleged that some schools are either delaying the admission process or refusing to admit students, even though their names are included in the official list issued by authorities.
District Magistrate Intervenes
Taking note of the complaints, Medha Roopam held a meeting with principals and management representatives of 119 private schools in the district to address the issue.
During the meeting, the district magistrate directed schools to complete the admission process within seven days for all students whose names appear in the allotment list.
She also warned that strict action and notices would be issued to institutions that fail to comply with the RTE rules.

Focus on Preventing Academic Loss
Officials said the administration wants to ensure that all RTE admissions are completed before the start of the new academic session so that students from disadvantaged backgrounds do not suffer academic setbacks.
Principals attending the meeting were asked to bring complete records of RTE admissions, which were reviewed by authorities to verify compliance with the law.
The administration has also indicated that monitoring of private schools will continue to ensure that the provisions of the RTE Act are implemented properly and that eligible children receive their rightful access to education.
