Cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination — one of the toughest in the world — is a dream for millions. Doing it once is extraordinary. Doing it four times, without coaching, is almost unheard of. Yet IPS officer Amrit Jain has achieved exactly that.
Currently posted as ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jain is living proof that consistency, self-discipline, and self-study can break even the toughest barriers.
A Journey of Relentless Determination
Amrit Jain first appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2018 and cracked it on his very first attempt. He didn’t stop there. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, he repeated the feat — four straight years. Despite his consistent success, his dream of becoming an IAS officer still drives him forward.
Engineering Mindset, Administrative Ambition
Born with an aptitude for numbers and logic, Jain pursued Electrical Engineering at NIT Warangal, one of India’s top engineering institutions. After earning his B.Tech degree, he decided to dedicate himself to civil services preparation, focusing on self-study rather than joining expensive coaching institutes.
His disciplined approach involved rigorous daily planning, repeated revisions, and mock tests — but no formal coaching. This made his success stand out in an exam where most aspirants rely heavily on private tuition.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Aspirants
Even as an IPS officer, Amrit Jain continues to inspire UPSC hopefuls with his story. His mantra of self-belief and consistency has become a beacon for students from smaller towns and financially modest backgrounds who cannot afford coaching.
“Self-study forces you to understand your strengths and weaknesses deeply. It builds confidence and independence,” he has said in interactions with students.
Why His Story Matters
In a system where many see coaching as a must, Jain’s four-time success underlines the power of self-motivation, structured preparation, and resilience. His journey also highlights how the UPSC exam remains one of the most egalitarian platforms — rewarding knowledge, dedication, and focus above all.
The Road Ahead
Though he serves the country with distinction as an IPS officer, Amrit Jain hasn’t given up his dream of becoming an IAS officer. His continued attempts are a testament to his perseverance. For India’s youth, his story is more than a success tale — it’s a playbook for discipline and grit.
