A landmark development in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial journey is set to unfold as the state’s first semiconductor park will be inaugurated in Jewar’s Sector-28 in Yamuna City. The foundation ceremony marks a major step toward positioning the region as a global electronics manufacturing centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the event virtually, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw will attend in person to lay the foundation stone of the ambitious project.
Joint Venture Between Foxconn and HCL
The semiconductor park will be developed through a collaboration between global electronics giant Foxconn and Indian technology major HCL. Officials say the project has the potential to transform Jewar into a “global chip hub,” significantly strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The initiative follows a series of mega infrastructure projects in the region, including the upcoming Noida International Airport and the proposed Film City, positioning Yamuna City as a future high-tech corridor in North India.
Major Boost to Industrial Growth
Authorities believe the semiconductor facility will create large-scale employment opportunities, attract ancillary industries, and accelerate economic development across western Uttar Pradesh.
Semiconductor manufacturing is considered strategically critical, as chips power everything from smartphones and automobiles to defence systems and advanced computing infrastructure. India has been pushing aggressively to build domestic capacity in this sector to reduce dependence on imports.
Strategic 48 Hours for UP Development
The inauguration comes during a period of major development announcements for the state. Over the weekend, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to flag off key metro and rapid rail projects in nearby Meerut, underscoring a broader push toward infrastructure and technology expansion in the region.
Officials describe the current phase as a turning point for Uttar Pradesh’s industrial landscape, particularly for districts surrounding the Yamuna Expressway.

Traffic Diversions in Place
Due to the high-profile event and anticipated public turnout, traffic restrictions and diversions have been implemented on parts of the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, especially for heavy vehicles. Commuters have been advised to plan travel accordingly.
A Vision for a High-Tech Future
With the semiconductor park, airport, and logistics infrastructure converging in the same zone, planners envision Jewar evolving into one of India’s most significant technology and manufacturing clusters in the coming years.
If executed successfully, the project could not only boost Uttar Pradesh’s economy but also strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
