By SHAMBHAVI SINGH: Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, has claimed it has achieved the first position in the number of convictions in cases of women-related crimes, cyber crimes and seizure of firearms according to the National Crime Records Bureau Report of 2021.
The state’s crime rate in cases of murder, loot, crimes against children and women, rapes, and kidnapping was less compared to the other states of the country.
There was only one riot in the state. The crime incidence per lakh population was also low. The state ranked 23rd in the list.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office termed the state as “one of the safest states”. A spokesperson said that it was all possible due to Adityanath’s “zero-tolerance policy towards the criminals”.
As per the report, the number of convictions in women-related crime was 7,713 while it was 292 in cyber crimes. A total of 1,12,800 people were convicted in crimes related to Indian Penal Code. The convictions in seizure of arms was 40,212 in 2021.
The state is at the second position for arresting people related to any crime. Also Uttar Pradesh stands fourth in the recovery of illegal property and 16th in the recovery of fake Indian currency.
The crime rate of the state is 2.6 compared to the average 4.8 of the nation as a whole.
The crime rates of Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Delhi are way higher than Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh is becoming free of mafia raj and becoming a safe haven for its citizens.
