In a digital era where cybercrime is rising at an unprecedented pace, one name stands as a symbol of courage and commitment—Professor Triveni Singh. xAI’s artificial intelligence model Grok has hailed him as “Cyber Singham,” presenting his journey as an inspiration. As Superintendent of Police in the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Crime division, Singh built a strong foundation in India’s fight against digital crime.

From IPS to a PhD in Cyber Crime

Professor Triveni Singh is India’s first IPS officer to earn a PhD in cyber crime. According to The Times of India, he has investigated more than 200 types of cybercrimes and has brought behind bars thousands of criminals involved in frauds worth over ₹4,000 crore. His expertise in online scams, banking frauds, sextortion, and dark web operations earned him the title “India’s Cyber Cop.” In 2012, he was honored with the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) and was later conferred with an honorary professorship by Amity University.

Cyber Crime Police Stations and Expertise

Under Singh’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh established 18 cyber crime police stations, strengthening the state’s digital security framework. As reported by Hindustan Times, he has also trained and advised prestigious institutions such as the CBI, the National Police Academy, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. His decisive investigations have exposed fake profiles, online pornography rackets, and cryptocurrency fraud. With certifications in ethical hacking and forensic investigation, Singh has been a formidable force against cybercrime.

Books and Web Series

To make cybercrime awareness accessible and engaging, Singh co-authored four books—Hidden Files: Tales of Cyber Crime Investigation, Hidden Files – Unlock, Atharva, and Cyber Crime Ki Romanchkari Kahaniyan. Among these, Atharva is a cybercrime thriller focusing on AI, machine learning, and blockchain-related crimes. According to India Today, these books are not only thrilling but have played a vital role in spreading awareness about cybersecurity.

His life has also inspired the OTT web series Cyber Singham, which gained popularity on Apex Prime. As The Print reported, the series was based on real cases solved by him. Its sequel, Cyber Singham 2, highlighted sensitive issues such as online child trafficking, reinforcing public awareness of digital safety.

FCRF and New Role

In 2023, Singh opted for voluntary retirement and founded the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), where he now serves as the chief mentor. According to The Economic Times, FCRF focuses on innovation and awareness in the fight against cybercrime. In 2024, Singh unveiled a cyber crime management framework at a Data Security Council of India (DSCI) event, addressing emerging threats like the dark web and cryptocurrency-related crimes. Under his guidance, FCRF launched the Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) program, aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) 2023.

Honors and Contributions

Professor Singh has been recognized with multiple national and international awards. As reported by The Hindu, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Digital Investigators Association, the Law Enforcement Award at Visa Security Summit in Seoul, and a certificate of honor from the CBI Director. His active involvement in campaigns such as the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Safety and Security Awareness Week continues to strengthen public digital awareness.

Vision and Legacy

For Singh, combating cybercrime requires not just technological expertise but also public awareness. According to Grok, he is more than a police officer—he is also a teacher, researcher, and reformer.

Professor Triveni Singh’s journey remains an inspiration for every Indian. His books, web series, and training programs encourage safe and responsible digital behavior. The legacy of Cyber Singham lives on, shaping a stronger and more secure digital future for India.
