LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government is dedicated to the welfare of farmers and is working relentlessly for improving farmers’ income and productivity. Sugarcane productivity has doubled and an increasing number of farmers are using technology for training and timely payment as a result of the Yogi Adityanath-led government’s ongoing efforts to empower the farmers.

According to data given by the Sugarcane Department, the area under cultivation of the crop increased by 1.34 lakh hectares during the Yogi Government’s four years in office, setting a new record for the region. Sugarcane crop has increased from 4.39 lakh hectares to 5.73 lakh hectares in Purvanchal.

Purvanchal has seen a record increase in sugarcane yields as a result of this. According to the Sugarcane Department’s figures, farmers’ revenue increased by Rs 22,000 per hectare during this time. Purvanchal’s farmers’ overall income has grown by Rs 1,290 crore.

According to the department, the UP government’s farmer-friendly policies, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, have helped them. In this regard, the construction of new sugar mills, the reopening and functioning of closed ones during the Corona period, as well as timely payment of sugarcane prices to farmers and a programme to connect farmers with technology, have all proven to be quite effective.

Over the last four years, the state government has pushed to improve sugarcane growing in the state, increasing farmer wealth. Over 44.40 lakh farmers in the state have downloaded the e-Ganna App, which allows them to connect directly to the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Department. Farmers are no longer subject to the presence of intermediaries as a result of this. Aside from that, farmers are receiving all necessary information via their cell phones.

The sugarcane department’s mobile app has received over 81.57 crore hits, indicating that sugarcane farmers in UP are increasingly embracing technology. Simultaneously, Smart Sugarcane Farmer’s website has received up to 5.1 crore hits (Smart Ganna Kisan). These results attest to the fact that the state government’s efforts have made UP farmers tech-savvy.

Farmers’ income has increased dramatically as the area under cultivation has expanded and sugarcane yields have increased. In the last four years, the average sugarcane output in Purvanchal has increased from 652.72 quintals per hectare to 722 quintals per hectare.

Farmers have earned Rs 22,512 per acre as a result of the increased production.

Farmers have received 70 lakh quintals of seeds from the Yogi government. The trench method has been used to sow on 5 lakh hectares of land. In addition, almost 4 lakh hectares of land were cultivated using co-cropping, and 4,042 hectares of drip irrigation plants were erected.
