The Indian Civil Services (ICS) exam is extremely competitive, demanding years of dedicated study. Coaching institutes often seem like a prerequisite for success, leaving disadvantaged students at a disadvantage. However, the story of B. Abdul Nasar, an IAS officer from Kerala, shatters this notion and offers a beacon of hope.
Nasar’s journey is one of immense hardship and unwavering determination. Losing his father at a young age, he and his siblings spent 13 years in an orphanage in Kerala’s Kannur district. From the age of 10, Nasar shouldered the burden of contributing to his family’s income, taking on jobs like cleaning and hotel supplies. Despite these challenges, his commitment to education remained strong.
After completing his schooling at a government college in Thalasseri, Nasar juggled various jobs like newspaper delivery, tuition classes, and even phone operations to support his family while pursuing his graduation and post-graduation degrees.
