Dehradun-born Kuhoo Garg, a promising badminton player, faced a career-altering knee injury that forced her to reimagine her future. Undeterred, she transitioned seamlessly from the badminton court to the rigorous world of civil service examinations.

Her journey with badminton began at the tender age of nine, fueled by the support of her sports-enthusiast parents. Her father, a former DGP of Uttarakhand, and her mother, an academic, nurtured her talent, leading her to numerous national and international accolades. She clinched gold at the 2019 South Asian Games and silver at the National Championship that year. Her impressive career also included a quarter-final finish at the 2018 World Championship and a collection of 56 national and 19 international medals.

However, a severe knee injury halted her promising sporting career. Rather than succumbing to adversity, Kuhoo embraced this setback as an opportunity. Inspired by her friend Narayani Bhatia, who was also preparing for the UPSC exam, she dedicated herself to the rigorous preparation.

In 2023, her hard work paid off as she secured the 178th rank in the UPSC exam and opted for the Indian Police Service (IPS). Following in her father’s footsteps and driven by a desire to serve the nation, Kuhoo’s choice reflects her unwavering commitment to public service.

Her journey is a testament to her resilience, hard work, and ability to adapt to life’s curveballs. Trained under renowned coaches like Dr. DK Sen and Pullela Gopichand, Kuhoo’s story is an inspiration to all those who aspire to achieve greatness, both on and off the field.
