Air travel in India just became a lot friendlier on the pocket. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has launched an Udaan Yatri Café at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, offering food and beverages at prices starting as low as Rs 10.
The café, inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu in the presence of MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, is part of the government’s effort to make air travel accessible and affordable for all under the Udaan scheme.
Food at pocket-friendly prices
Travellers can now grab:
A bottle of water or a cup of tea – Rs 10 each
A samosa – Rs 20
Other quick bites at budget-friendly rates
“This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to provide food and beverages at affordable prices to air travellers. High food costs at airports have long been a concern, and this initiative directly addresses that,” said Minister Rammohan Naidu during the launch.
Rolling out across India
The Bhubaneswar café is the fifth such facility, after similar launches in Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune. The Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed that more such cafés will soon open at other major airports across the country.
With rising air travel demand, the Udaan Yatri Café is being seen as a game-changer for passengers, ensuring that a cup of tea or a snack won’t burn a hole in their pockets while flying.
