In a major boost to public transport connectivity, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will inaugurate its much-anticipated air-conditioned skywalk connecting Delhi Metro’s Blue Line (Sector 52) with Noida Metro’s Aqua Line (Sector 51) on October 2, 2025 — coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
This 420-metre-long, 5-metre-wide elevated corridor — fitted with moving walkways (travellators), elevators, and seamless ticketing integration — promises to transform the way thousands of commuters travel between Delhi and Noida every day.
From Tin Shed to High-Tech Skywalk
Originally planned as a 300-metre tin-shed walkway in 2023, the project has evolved into a state-of-the-art structure with a two-pillar design for enhanced safety and durability. Built at a cost of Rs 40 crore, the skywalk faced delays due to design upgrades but is now ready for launch.
“We have directed our teams to finish the remaining work by September 30 so we can open it to the public on October 2,” said Mahendra Prasad, Executive Director, NMRC.
Why This Matters for Commuters
Until now, passengers transferring between the Blue and Aqua Lines had to rely on e-rickshaws or makeshift walkways, leading to wasted time, extra costs, and inconvenience. The new AC skywalk will offer:
◆Faster, smoother transfers between lines
◆Protection from heat, rain, and pollution
◆Reduced travel cost and time
◆Enhanced accessibility for senior citizens and differently-abled passengers
Officials estimate that thousands of daily passengers will immediately benefit from this facility, making the Delhi-Noida commute more efficient than ever.
Boost for Noida’s Urban Mobility
Urban planners see the skywalk as more than just infrastructure—it’s a symbol of world-class urban connectivity for the NCR. This project could also boost real estate demand and business activities near Sector 51 and 52 stations.
As the countdown begins to October 2, the Noida Metro’s AC skywalk is already being hailed as a game-changer for sustainable, commuter-friendly urban transport in India.
