In a major push to promote hygiene, waste management, and sustainable living, the Greater Noida Authority has launched a city-wide Cleanliness Ranking Competition for residential and non-residential societies, offering attractive cash prizes of up to ₹1 lakh to the top performers.
The initiative is part of the Authority’s broader Swachh Bharat drive aimed at strengthening solid waste management practices and encouraging societies to take responsibility for waste segregation and disposal at source.
To ensure wider participation, the Authority has now extended the application deadline to January 31, 2026, giving more housing societies and institutions an opportunity to compete and showcase their cleanliness efforts.
Big Rewards for Clean Living
Under the competition guidelines, societies will be evaluated in two separate categories — residential and non-residential. In each category:
First Prize: Rs 1,00,000
Second Prize: Rs 75,000
Third Prize: Rs 50,000
Two consolation prizes of Rs 25,000 each
The winners will be felicitated during the upcoming Flower Exhibition, scheduled to be held from February 26 to March 1, 2026, a flagship cultural event organised by the Authority.
Focus on Waste Management and Sustainability
Greater Noida already follows the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, under which Bulk Waste Generators—including most large housing societies—are required to manage and process their own biodegradable waste. The Authority collects only non-recyclable inert waste.
Officials said many societies fall under the bulk waste generator category, making community participation critical for reducing landfill pressure and improving urban hygiene.
“This competition is not just about prizes. It is about building a culture of responsibility, cleanliness, and sustainable living,” an official from the Health Department of the Authority said.

Expert Evaluation and Transparent Process
All applications will be reviewed by a team of experts, who will assess societies based on multiple parameters such as:
●Waste segregation at source
●On-site composting and recycling practices
●Cleanliness of common areas
●Awareness initiatives among residents
●Compliance with waste management rules
The evaluation process aims to ensure transparency and reward genuine efforts toward sustainable waste handling.
How to Apply
Societies can submit their applications online through the Greater Noida Authority’s official website. Applications have been open since December 26, 2025, and will now close on January 31, 2026.
Officials urged all eligible societies to participate actively and take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to a cleaner and healthier city.
Encouraging Community Participation
The initiative reflects the Authority’s growing focus on community-driven cleanliness programs. By rewarding responsible societies, officials hope to inspire others to adopt best practices in waste management and environmental care.
With rising urban populations and increasing waste generation, such initiatives are seen as vital for maintaining Greater Noida’s image as a planned, green, and sustainable city.
