‘We Feel Ignored’: Noida Sector 99 Residents Flag Footpath Damage, Drain Overflow

Residents of Sector 99 in Noida have raised serious concerns over deteriorating civic infrastructure, alleging that broken footpaths, clogged drains and neglected green spaces have turned daily life into a struggle.
Home to over 5,000 residents across plots and apartment complexes, the centrally located sector enjoys connectivity to the Noida Expressway. However, locals say basic amenities remain in poor condition despite repeated complaints to the Authority.

Cracked Footpaths & Accident Risks
Residents claim that loose interlocking tiles and damaged pavements pose safety hazards, especially for children and elderly citizens. Several stretches of internal roads are uneven, increasing the risk of accidents.
“Footpaths are broken and interlocking tiles are loose. It is dangerous to even walk here,” said a Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) member.

Sewer Overflow & Water Quality Issues
Frequent sewer overflows have been another major concern. Residents of LIG flats in the sector had earlier complained about clogged drains and foul-smelling water flowing from taps.
According to locals, the issue has persisted for months, causing unhygienic conditions and raising fears of health risks.

Lack of Green Maintenance
Residents also allege that horticulture and maintenance of green belts have been neglected. Parks and open spaces, they say, are poorly maintained, affecting the overall quality of life.
“No proper upkeep of green areas is being done. We cannot sit idle while civic neglect continues,” said a local resident.

Electrical & Waste Management Concerns
Apart from drainage and footpath issues, residents have flagged irregular water supply, outdated electrical infrastructure and poor waste disposal systems as ongoing challenges.
Frustrated by the lack of action, residents are now seeking intervention from the Noida Authority CEO and demanding immediate redressal of pending grievances.
As of now, an official response from the Authority is awaited.
