In a unique move aimed at combining travel with productivity, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation has introduced co-working spaces at the Namo Bharat stations.
The initiative has been launched initially at the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station, where commuters and professionals can book a workspace for just Rs 499 for up to 10 hours.
The facility aims to provide passengers with a comfortable environment where they can work, attend meetings, or even record podcasts while travelling through the rapidly developing Delhi–Meerut corridor.
Transforming Stations into Productivity Hubs
With the launch of this new facility, transit stations are gradually being transformed into modern productivity spaces rather than just transit points.
Officials said the co-working area is equipped with essential amenities required for professionals and remote workers, including:
●Comfortable seating and desks
●High-speed internet connectivity
●Charging points for electronic devices
●Quiet workspace environment
●Meeting and collaboration space
This initiative is expected to benefit freelancers, startup professionals, corporate employees and students who need a temporary workspace during travel.
Making Travel Time More Productive
The Delhi–Meerut RRTS Corridor, where the Namo Bharat trains operate, has been designed to provide fast and comfortable connectivity between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.
With thousands of daily commuters travelling through the corridor, officials believe the introduction of co-working facilities will help passengers utilise travel time more efficiently.
Instead of waiting idly at stations or travelling without productivity, commuters can now use the space for:
Office work
●Business meetings
●Online conferences
●Content creation and podcasts
●Study sessions
Expansion Planned to More Stations
Currently, the co-working facility is available only at the Ghaziabad station, but authorities have indicated that the concept may soon be expanded.
If the pilot project proves successful, similar co-working spaces could be introduced at other major stations across the corridor, including those in Delhi and Meerut.
Officials say the initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating smart, multi-functional transport infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR).

A New Concept in Indian Transit Infrastructure
Globally, many metro and railway stations are evolving into urban lifestyle hubs that offer workspaces, retail areas, cafés and other services.
By introducing co-working spaces at Namo Bharat stations, NCRTC aims to bring a similar model to India’s modern rapid transit system.
Urban mobility experts say such innovations can significantly improve commuter convenience while also generating additional revenue for transit authorities.
Boosting the Appeal of the Namo Bharat Corridor
The Delhi–Meerut rapid rail project has already been attracting attention for its high-speed trains, modern stations and comfortable travel experience.
With the addition of workspaces and other passenger-friendly facilities, the Namo Bharat corridor is gradually becoming more than just a transport system — it is evolving into a multi-purpose urban mobility network.
Officials believe that features like co-working spaces will make the corridor more attractive for professionals and daily commuters.
