In a major infrastructure boost, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has begun work on upgrading four important internal roads in Gurugram. The projects, collectively worth Rs 1,511.85 lakh (over Rs 15 crore), aim to improve road quality, reduce congestion, and enhance commuter safety.
The move comes after repeated complaints from residents about potholes, broken surfaces, and poor maintenance, especially during the monsoon season.

Sector 46 to Get 18-Metre-Wide Road
One of the biggest projects is underway in Sector 46, where a 4.6 km long, 18-metre-wide road is being constructed at a cost of Rs 483.48 lakh.
Officials said this stretch has long suffered from poor infrastructure, with waterlogging and damaged surfaces making commuting difficult.
A local resident highlighted the issue, saying roads in the area become almost unusable during rains due to lack of proper drainage and footpaths.

Sushant Lok 3 Roads to Be Recarpeted
In Sushant Lok Phase 3, internal roads across B and C blocks covering nearly 6 km will be recarpeted at a cost of Rs 312.99 lakh.
This project is expected to significantly improve daily commuting conditions for residents and is scheduled for completion by November 2026.

Omaxe Mall to Rosewood City Stretch to Become Model Road
A key highlight is the 4.2 km stretch from Omaxe Mall (Sector 49) to Rosewood City (Block E), which will be transformed into a model road.
Estimated cost: Rs 501.51 lakh
Completion deadline: January 2027
Officials said the model road will feature better surfacing, improved drainage, and enhanced durability to handle rising traffic.

Mayfield Garden Roads Also in Focus
In Mayfield Garden (Sectors 50–51), roads spanning 1.2 km will be newly constructed at a cost of Rs 213.57 lakh, with completion targeted by February 2027.
Residents Raise Long-Standing Concerns
Residents across these areas have repeatedly flagged:
●Deep potholes and uneven road surfaces
●Poor drainage leading to waterlogging
●Lack of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure
These issues not only slow down traffic but also pose safety risks, especially for school children and elderly residents.

MCG Promises Long-Term Relief
Officials say the projects have been prioritised based on road condition and increasing traffic load.
An MCG engineer stated that the focus is on:
●Durable road construction
●Improved traffic flow
●Long-term maintenance solutions
The initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade urban infrastructure and address long-pending civic issues in Gurugram.

Step Towards Better Urban Mobility
With Gurugram rapidly expanding as a residential and commercial hub, improving internal road networks has become crucial.
If executed on time, these projects are expected to:
●Ease daily commuting
●Reduce vehicle damage
●Improve overall quality of life for residents
