The Uttar Pradesh government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle by changing the postings and charges of 15 senior IAS officers across the state. The widespread adjustments affect bureaucrats serving at the ranks of Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Secretary, Special Secretary, and Managing Director. Under the orders issued by the administration, multiple officers have been entrusted with additional responsibilities, while others have been relieved of existing charges to assume new roles, including an administrative change in the leadership of the Jhansi division.
Senior bureaucrats assigned key industrial and rural portfolios
Under the newly issued orders, Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash has been assigned the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary for the Civil Aviation Department. Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastava has been designated as the Agricultural Production Commissioner. Alongside this primary responsibility, Srivastava will handle additional portfolios comprising Additional Chief Secretary for Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply, Minor Irrigation and Groundwater, Mission Director of the Rural Drinking Water Mission, and Project Director of the State Clean Ganga Mission. Additional Chief Secretary Alok Kumar has been appointed as the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner. He has also been given additional charge of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, the Non-Resident Indian Department, and the chairmanship of PIKUP, consolidating key responsibilities related to state investment and industrial expansion under his office.
Significant portfolio adjustments at the Principal Secretary rank
Administrative changes were also instituted across the Principal Secretary cadre and within state expressways management. Principal Secretary M. Devaraj has been given the additional charge of Chairman of the State Vigilance Commission and Administrative Tribunal-I. Principal Secretary M.K.S. Sundaram has been assigned to serve as Principal Secretary for Coordination while taking on the role of Project Director at the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority. Principal Secretary Alok Kumar will oversee responsibilities pertaining to the Finance Department, Institutional Finance, and externally aided projects. Concurrently, Principal Secretary Ajay Chauhan has taken over as the Chief Executive Officer of UPEIDA, whereas Principal Secretary Pandhari Yadav has been formally relieved of his responsibility for externally aided projects.
Field postings and corporate leadership swapped across departments
Leadership shifts were implemented across key state corporations and regional field administrations. In a direct exchange of roles between two state bodies, Yogesh Kumar, previously the Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Rural, has been appointed Managing Director of the Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation. In turn, Amit Kumar Singh, who headed the dairy federation, has been transferred to serve as Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Rural. Krishna Kumar, previously Secretary for Irrigation and Water Resources, has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner of Jhansi. Chandra Shekhar, formerly Special Secretary in the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, has been designated as Chief Executive Officer of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and Administrator of the Greater Sharda Sahayak Command Area Development Authority. Additionally, Secretary Bhupendra S. Chaudhary has been assigned as Secretary to the Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission, while Devendra Singh Kushwaha has been moved from the waiting list to serve as Special Secretary for Administrative Reforms. Praveen Mishra, who worked as Special Secretary for Social Welfare and Secretary, has been posted as Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation with additional charge as Director of Tribal Development. The reshuffle redistributes governance across infrastructure, water resources, finance, and welfare programs, requiring the officers to assume their designated posts immediately.
