Marking a new chapter in India’s political landscape, Chandrapuram Ponnusamy (C.P.) Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on Friday at a ceremony held at the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu in the presence of a distinguished gathering of leaders from across the political spectrum. The swearing-in also marked the first public appearance of former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar since his resignation in July due to health reasons.

Dignitaries at the Ceremony
The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, several Cabinet Ministers, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and other eminent political figures. Their presence highlighted the significance of the occasion as India prepares for new leadership in its upper house of Parliament.

A Veteran Leader with a Strong Track Record
C.P. Radhakrishnan, a two-time Member of Parliament from Coimbatore and a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, brings decades of political experience to the office. Known for his integrity and inclusive approach, he is also regarded as a bridge between southern states and the national leadership.

Historic Transition in Rajya Sabha
As the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Mr. Radhakrishnan will oversee debates, legislative processes, and critical discussions shaping India’s future. Political observers believe his tenure may bring a fresh dynamic to the Upper House, especially with upcoming reforms and debates on key bills.

This historic swearing-in not only marks a leadership change but also sets the tone for India’s evolving political landscape under his stewardship.
