Marking a new chapter in India’s political landscape, Chandrapuram Ponnusamy (C.P.) Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on Friday at a ceremony held at the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu in the presence of a distinguished gathering of leaders from across the political spectrum. The swearing-in also marked the first public appearance of former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar since his resignation in July due to health reasons.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, several Cabinet Ministers, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and other eminent political figures. C.P. Radhakrishnan, a two-time Member of Parliament from Coimbatore and a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, brings decades of political experience to the office. Known for his integrity and inclusive approach, he is also regarded as a bridge between southern states and the national leadership.
