Delhi to Jaipur in Just 3 Hours! New Expressway Spur Set to Open in July

Great news for commuters and tourists! From mid-July, the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur will be slashed by nearly an hour, thanks to a new 67-km high-speed corridor connecting Bandikui to Jaipur as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project.

Constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at a cost of Rs 1,368 crore, this four-lane, access-controlled road is designed to bypass the heavily congested NH-44, offering a smoother and faster alternative.

What Changes for Travelers?

Current travel time: ~4 hours (Delhi to Jaipur)

New travel time: 3 to 3 hours 15 minutes

Time saved: Around 1 hour

Distance saved: 12 km less than the existing route

Currently, travelers have to exit the Delhi-Mumbai expressway at Bandhrej Toll Plaza in Dausa and continue on the slower Jaipur-Agra highway (NH-44). The new spur eliminates that bottleneck and connects directly to Jaipur.

When Will It Open?

According to NHAI officials, the expressway is fully constructed and will be open for traffic trials in mid-July. A safety audit is underway, and any required fixes will be made before the official launch.

“This road will reduce travel time by about an hour. Commuters will now reach Jaipur in just over 3 hours,” said Pradeep Atri, NHAI Regional Officer (Rajasthan).

Bigger Impact on Traffic

The expressway is expected to divert a major share of traffic from the Delhi-Jaipur route, easing pressure on NH-44 and enhancing logistics between NCR and Rajasthan. NHAI is also planning a greenfield expressway that will directly link Jaipur to the Delhi-Agra corridor, offering even more seamless
connectivity in the future.
