Madhya Pradesh to Introduce Single UPSC-like Exam for All Government Jobs — A Bold Move to Reform Recruitment System

In a significant reform move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the state will soon introduce a single, UPSC-style examination for all government job recruitments. The landmark decision aims to overhaul the existing hiring framework, replacing the current system of multiple departmental exams conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC).

The upcoming reform promises to simplify recruitment, bring transparency, and significantly reduce delays that have long frustrated lakhs of aspirants across the state.

A Unified Test to Replace Multiple Exams
Under the existing process, candidates must appear for separate MPPSC exams for different posts and departments — often facing long wait times for results, interviews, and appointments. The new system seeks to replace this with one comprehensive, standardised examination, similar to the UPSC model used for national civil services.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said the move was aimed at making the selection process faster, fairer, and more efficient, ensuring deserving candidates get recruited without bureaucratic hurdles.

“Holding multiple departmental exams consumes both time and resources. A single examination will ensure a streamlined, transparent, and merit-based process,” he said.

Officials confirmed that the reform would bring greater uniformity and accountability, allowing the government to speed up recruitment across key departments such as police, revenue, education, and health.

Focus on Filling 20,000 Police Vacancies
The Chief Minister highlighted that one of the immediate goals of this unified examination framework is to fill over 20,000 vacant police posts within the next three years. Recruitment bottlenecks have delayed appointments across the force, affecting law enforcement capacity in several districts.
With a unified examination system, the government hopes to cut red tape and standardize eligibility testing, ensuring timely appointments and improved manpower planning.

Ongoing Recruitment and MP SET 2025
While the unified system is in development, ongoing recruitment drives remain unaffected. The Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET) 2025 — which qualifies candidates for lectureship and assistant professorship positions — is currently open for registration.
The application process began on October 25, 2024, and will continue until November 20, 2025, following the usual three-tier pattern of Prelims, Mains, and Interview.

A Step Toward Efficiency and Trust
This ambitious reform represents a major shift in Madhya Pradesh’s public recruitment approach, bringing it closer to the transparency and standardisation seen in national-level exams.
By merging various departmental exams into a single, comprehensive test, the government aims to:

◆Reduce administrative delays

◆Ensure merit-based selection

◆Boost employment opportunities

◆Strengthen public trust in the system

For millions of job seekers, this reform could mark the beginning of a new era of efficiency, fairness, and opportunity in Madhya Pradesh’s government recruitment landscape.
