Meet the Indian-Origin Woman Who Outpaced Google and Microsoft CEOs in Wealth

When conversations turn to the most powerful Indian-origin CEOs in the global tech industry, names like Sundar Pichai of Google and Satya Nadella of Microsoft usually dominate. However, when it comes to personal wealth, one Indian-origin woman has quietly surged far ahead of them — Jayshree Ullal, the CEO of Arista Networks.

According to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, Jayshree Ullal’s net worth stands at an astounding Rs 50,170 crore, placing her well above some of the most famous tech leaders of Indian origin. Her rise is not just a story of wealth, but of bold decisions, sharp vision, and long-term leadership in Silicon Valley.

From Delhi Classrooms to Silicon Valley Boardrooms
Born and raised in India, Jayshree Ullal studied in Delhi before moving to the United States, where she built her career in the fiercely competitive world of networking and cloud infrastructure. Trained as an engineer, she steadily climbed the corporate ladder, eventually joining Cisco Systems, one of the world’s largest networking companies.
At Cisco, Ullal spent nearly 15 years, holding senior leadership roles and building deep expertise in data networking. However, her defining moment came when she made a high-risk decision — leaving Cisco to join a relatively unknown startup, Arista Networks.

The Gamble That Created a Tech Giant
When Ullal took charge of Arista Networks as CEO in 2008, the company was a small player competing against giants like Cisco. Under her leadership, Arista focused on cloud computing, high-speed data centers, and software-driven networking, areas that later became critical to global tech infrastructure.

The strategy paid off. Arista went public in 2014 and rapidly grew into a multi-billion-dollar company, serving major clients such as Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and large cloud service providers. Today, Arista Networks is considered one of the most influential players in cloud networking — and Ullal owns a significant stake in the company, which forms the backbone of her immense wealth.

Richer Than Global Tech Superstars
Despite leading some of the world’s most valuable companies, Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella earn most of their wealth through salaries and stock compensation, whereas Jayshree Ullal’s fortune is largely driven by equity ownership. This difference has propelled her net worth far beyond many high-profile CEOs.
Her journey stands out not only because of the numbers but because she achieved this success in a male-dominated industry — without celebrity status, controversy, or constant media attention.

A Quiet Trailblazer
Jayshree Ullal is known for maintaining a low public profile, focusing on execution rather than publicity. Yet her success has made her one of the wealthiest self-made Indian-origin executives in the world and a powerful role model for aspiring entrepreneurs, engineers, and women leaders globally.

Her story proves that strategic thinking, long-term vision, and the courage to take calculated risks can redefine what success looks like — even in the world’s most competitive industries.
