In a disturbing escalation of a long-running housing dispute, residents of Sector 75, Plot 7 in Noida have begun a relay hunger strike under extreme heat conditions of 42°C, highlighting the severity of their situation. The protest marks the latest step in a series of demonstrations that included thali (utensil) protests and torch marches, reflecting growing frustration among residents who claim their concerns have been ignored for years.Around 230 families have now come together, stating that they have been left with no option but to take such drastic measures.

Rs 1 Crore Flats, But Incomplete and Unsafe Living Conditions
The society consists of approximately 240 flats with a population of nearly 1,000 residents, yet residents claim that not a single aspect of the project has been fully completed. Many buyers invested up to Rs 1 crore per flat, expecting modern housing and basic infrastructure. Instead, they allege that the society remains incomplete, with critical work unfinished and overall conditions posing risks to residents.According to them, the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that
“the entire society feels unsafe and unfit for proper living.”

Core Issue: No Property Registration and Incomplete Work
One of the most serious concerns raised by residents is the lack of property registration, which has left them in legal and financial uncertainty despite paying full amounts.Alongside this, residents point out that basic infrastructure and essential facilities remain incomplete, making everyday life difficult.Despite repeated complaints on multiple platforms, they claim that no meaningful progress has been made.Allegations Against Builder:
“Only False Promises for Years”
Residents have accused the builder of continuous delays and false assurances, stating that timelines have been repeatedly extended.According to them, the builder initially promised completion within a few months, then extended it to over a year, and yet the situation remains unchanged even after several years. Some residents have also alleged that the builder may be diverting funds elsewhere instead of completing the project, raising serious concerns about financial transparency.

Noida Authority Also Under Fire
Along with the builder, the Noida Authority has also been heavily criticized.Residents allege that despite filing complaints at various levels,no responsible official has stepped in to resolve the issue. Some protesters have gone further, alleging a possible nexus between the builder and authorities, claiming that this is why their grievances have not been addressed.

Voices from the Ground: Residents Speak Out
Residents participating in the hunger strike have expressed deep frustration and emotional distress.Professor Shashikant Maurya from the welfare association stated that living conditions feel similar to a “JJ colony,” adding that no authority has come forward to address their problems.Lokesh Singh alleged that the builder has been making false promises for years and blamed both the builder and authorities for the ongoing crisis.Nadeem Ahmad claimed that the builder has no intention of completing the project and may be diverting funds elsewhere.Arun Kumar also alleged that the lack of action indicates collusion between the builder and authorities.

Extreme Conditions: Protest Under Scorching Heat
What makes the situation even more alarming is the condition under which the protest is taking place.Men and women — including vulnerable individuals — are sitting in 42-degree heat without food, risking their health to demand basic rights. This highlights not just a housing issue, but a human crisis unfolding in plain sight.
“We Invested Our Life Savings — We Won’t Let It Sink”
Residents emphasized that they have invested their hard-earned lifetime savings into these flats. For them, this is not just about property —it is about financial survival, dignity, and security. They have made it clear that the protest will continue until concrete action is taken.

When Homebuyers Are Forced to Fight for Their Own Homes
The situation in Noida’s Sector 75 is a stark reflection of the challenges faced by thousands of homebuyers across India. When people paying crores for homes are forced to sit on hunger strike in extreme heat,
it raises a serious question —Who is accountable for protecting homebuyers?Until strong action is taken, such cases will continue to turn dream homes into symbols of struggle and neglect.
