A disturbing trend is emerging across India — fake and adulterated products are no longer limited to one category. From everyday food items to life-saving medicines, the contamination crisis is spreading rapidly, raising one alarming question:
What are we really consuming?
The latest case from Ayodhya, where 500 crates of fake refined oil were seized, is just one piece of a much larger and more dangerous puzzle.
From Eno and Coffee to Ghee — Daily Essentials Under Threat
Recent raids across multiple states have exposed how deeply this network has penetrated daily life. In Delhi, authorities busted illegal units manufacturing fake Eno sachets and counterfeit coffee powder sold under popular brand names. Large quantities of chemicals and packaging materials were recovered, indicating organized production.
Meanwhile, cities like Surat and Ludhiana reported seizures of thousands of kilograms of fake ghee, often made using palm oil or synthetic substances.
In parts of Uttar Pradesh, cases of adulterated khoya, paneer, and even green peas (matar) have surfaced — items that are consumed daily in millions of households.
Further south, in Telangana, police uncovered a large racket producing fake tea powder, where expired tea leaves were chemically treated and resold.

Now Even Medicines Are Not Safe
What makes this situation even more alarming is that the fraud has now extended beyond food.
In Gurugram, authorities seized counterfeit weight-loss and diabetes injections being sold under the name of Mounjaro, a globally recognized medication. Reports suggest these injections were being manufactured in residential setups and sold at prices ranging from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per dose.
This marks a dangerous escalation —
from fake food to fake pharmaceuticals.
The Most Dangerous Part: You Can’t Tell What’s Fake
Across all these cases, one fact remains consistent —
fake products are nearly indistinguishable from genuine ones.
●They look the same.
●They are packaged the same.
●And for an average consumer, there is no easy way to detect the difference.
This means millions could be unknowingly consuming harmful substances every single day.
Raids Are Increasing — But Is It Enough?
Authorities across the country have intensified inspections and seizures. However, the repeated emergence of such cases raises critical concerns:
●Is this just the tip of the iceberg?
●Are larger networks operating behind the scenes?
●And is enforcement reaching every level of the supply chain?
A Nationwide Warning
This is no longer just about isolated incidents. This is a systemic threat affecting everyday life. From cooking oil to tea, from sweets to injections —
the risk has entered both kitchens and clinics.
The message is clear:“Poison is spreading from city to city.”
And in this reality, awareness is no longer optional —
it is the only line of defense.
