As part of the government’s flagship initiative POSHAN Abhiyaan, the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road, Transport & Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra, distributed 500 nutrition kits to beneficiaries at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalya, Krishna Nagar, Delhi. The event emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to eradicating malnutrition and promoting holistic child and maternal health.
Strengthening Nutrition for a Healthier India
Addressing the gathering, Shri Harsh Malhotra underlined POSHAN Abhiyaan as the Modi Government’s dedicated effort to combat India’s malnutrition challenges, promote child growth, and ensure a healthy and productive future generation.
“POSHAN Abhiyaan has sparked a national Jan Andolan, driving nutritional awareness and behavioural change across communities,” the Minister said.
He further highlighted that the program has delivered significant outcomes, especially for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, with a focus on better diet diversity, maternal health, and child development.
Role of Technology and Community Engagement
Praising the use of the POSHAN Tracker App, Shri Malhotra said that real-time monitoring has enabled timely interventions, ensuring that nutritional services reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently.
He noted the programme’s success in inter-sectoral collaboration—bringing together health, education, and community welfare services under one roof to combat undernutrition at the grassroots level.
Maternal Nutrition: A National Priority
Emphasizing the importance of nutrition for pregnant and lactating women, Shri Malhotra stressed that maternal health directly impacts child development and birth outcomes. He urged the public to adopt healthy eating habits and promote nutrition within their families and communities.
“Together, let’s make nutrition a national movement for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India),” he added.
