Prof. Triveni Singh is a distinguished former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, widely recognized as India’s pioneering “CyberCop” and affectionately known as “Cyber Singham” for his fearless and groundbreaking contributions to cybercrime investigation and financial fraud detection. He holds a PhD in Financial Cyber Crime Management and was conferred the title of Honorary Professor by Amity University, Noida, in recognition of his efforts in building a robust cybersecurity ecosystem.

Career Highlights

  •  Joined the Provincial Police Service (PPS) in 1994 and was promoted to IPS in the 2011 batch (elevated in 2018).
  • Served in various roles, including Additional Superintendent of Police in the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), District Police Chief of Azamgarh, and Superintendent of Police (SP), Cyber Crime, Uttar Pradesh (from August 2020).
  • As SP Cyber Crime, he led investigations into complex cases, provided technical and administrative oversight to 18 cybercrime police stations across the state, and pioneered structured cybercrime management in Uttar Pradesh Police.
  • Investigated over 200 types of cybercrimes, leading to the arrest of thousands of criminals and resolution of cases involving fraudulent transactions exceeding ₹4,000 crore.
  • Took voluntary retirement in late 2023 due to health reasons, ahead of his scheduled superannuation.

Expertise and Contributions

Prof. Singh specializes in cybercrime, financial frauds, money laundering, economic offenses, anti-corruption, and vigilance investigations. He is celebrated for cracking high-profile cases involving banking scams, hacking, online frauds, and emerging threats like digital arrests and voice cloning—earning him the moniker “Cyber Singham” for his bold approach to tackling digital criminals.

  • Authored several books on real-life cybercrime incidents, including co-authored works such as Hidden Files: Tales of Cyber Crime Investigation.
  • Published case studies in national and international journals; frequently consulted as a resource person by agencies like the CBI, National Police Academy, and judicial bodies.
  • His life and cases inspired the web series Cyber Singham (released in 2022 on Apex Prime OTT platform), India’s first series based on real-life cybercrime investigations, with actor Mayur Mehta portraying him. A second season followed, focusing on issues like online child trafficking.
  • Post-retirement, he continues to advance cybersecurity awareness through the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), where he serves as a researcher and advisor.

  • Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) awarded by the President of India.
  • “India Cyber Cop” title by the Data Security Council of India (DSCI, NASSCOM initiative).
  • Lifetime Achievement Award from the Digital Investigators Association.
  •  Law Enforcement Award at the Visa Security Summit, Seoul, South Korea.
  • Certificate of Honour from the Director, CBI; Commendation Discs from DGP, Uttar Pradesh; and multiple other national/international honors.

  • Bachelor’s degree from Allahabad University.
  • MBA (Finance) from IGNOU.
  • Certificate in Digital Transformation from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
  •  Certificate in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination from West Virginia University, USA.
  • Certifications in ethical hacking, digital forensics, and cybercrime investigation.
