NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Defence on Friday announced Uttar Pradesh as the finest state tableau during this year’s Republic Day parade, and the Indian Navy marching contingent was chosen as the best marching contingent among the three Services.

The performance of the marching contingents from the three Services, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), other Auxiliary forces, and tableaux from various states and Union Territories (UTs), as well as Central Ministries and Departments, was judged by three panels of judges.

The Indian Navy marching contingent was adjudged to be the finest marching contingent among the three Services based on the panels’ evaluations.

Among CAPF/other auxiliary forces, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been named the best marching contingent.

Uttar Pradesh’s tableau was chosen as the best among the 12 states/UTs that marched in the Republic Day parade on January 26. The Uttar Pradesh tableau was based on the theme ‘One District, One Product,’ and Kashi Vishwanath Dham.

Karnataka took second prize with its tableau based on the theme ‘Cradle of Traditional Handicrafts.’ Meghalaya took third place for its tableau commemorating ‘Meghalaya’s 50 years of Statehood and its tribute to women-led cooperative organisations and SHGs.’

In the category of Central Ministries and Departments, the tableaux of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Civil Aviation were awarded joint winners. The tableau of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was based on the theme ‘National Education Policy,’ while the tableau of the Ministry of Civil Aviation was based on the theme ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik.’

The parade featured nine tableaux of Central Ministries and Departments.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (CPWD) tableaux based on the theme ‘Subhash @125’ and the ‘Vande Bharatam’ dance troupe were chosen for the special award category.

Furthermore, for the first time, the general public was allowed to vote in the popular choice category for the finest marching contingents and best tableaux via the MyGov platform. The online poll was held from January 25 to January 31, 2022.

The Indian Air Force marching unit was chosen as the best marching contingent among the three Services by popular vote.

On MyGov, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) earned the most votes as the best marching contingent among CAPF/other auxiliary forces.

In the popular voting category, Maharashtra was voted the best tableau among the States/UTs. Maharashtra’s tableau was based on the theme ‘Biodiversity and State Bio-symbols of Maharashtra.’

The tableau of Jammu and Kashmir, on the topic ‘Changing Face of Jammu and Kashmir,’ took second place (popular choice).

Based on popular vote, the tableau of the Ministry of Communication and the Department of Posts was chosen as the finest tableau among Central Ministries/Departments.
