UPSC CSE 2025 Result Out: Varanasi’s Shakti Dubey Tops, 1009 Selected

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025, ending the long wait for thousands of aspirants across India. The announcement follows the conclusion of the selection process that began with the written exams in September 2024 and was followed by personality tests held from January to April 2025.

Rank 1: Shakti Dubey from Varanasi

  • Hailing from Varanasi, Shakti Dubey secured Rank 1, topping one of the toughest exams in the country.
  • Shakti’s success comes after years of preparation, reflecting the grit and determination required to clear the Civil Services Examination.

 Rank 2: Harshita Goyal — CA Turned Bureaucrat

  • Rank 2 was secured by Harshita Goyal, originally from Haryana but brought up in Vadodara.

  • A Chartered Accountant by training, Harshita’s journey into civil services highlights how professionals from diverse fields are joining public service.

Rank 3: Dongre Archit Parag

  • Dongre Archit Parag took the third spot, rounding out the top 3 in this year’s prestigious list.

 Category-wise Selection Overview

A total of 1009 candidates have been recommended for appointments. The breakdown is as follows:

  • General: 335
  • EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 109
  • OBC: 318
  • SC: 160
  • ST: 87
  • PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): 45 candidates selected across various disability categories

Note: A reserve list of 230 candidates has also been maintained, and 241 candidates’ results are currently provisional.

1. Ashi Sharma – Rank 12

Ashi’s success exemplifies how candidates from tier-2 cities can crack the exam with strong strategy and commitment.

2. Madhav Agarwal – Rank 16

Coming from a family with no bureaucratic background, Madhav’s case is an example of first-generation civil servants emerging through hard work.

What Happens Next?

  • The final appointments will be made based on service preference, category, and availability of vacancies.
  • This year, 1129 vacancies were reported by the Central Government, including 50 seats for PwBD candidates.
  • UPSC will start the process of service allocation shortly, which will be handled by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

How to Check the UPSC Result?

Candidates can check their result online by:

  1. Visiting the official UPSC website: upsc.gov.in
  2. Clicking on “Final Result – Civil Services Examination, 2024”
  3. Downloading the PDF result
  4. Searching their roll number in the list

For any queries, UPSC has set up a Facilitation Counter at its New Delhi office. Candidates can approach between 10 AM to 5 PM on working days.

The UPSC CSE remains one of India’s most competitive and respected exams. This year’s results reflect the increasing diversity in the candidate pool — with professionals, small-town aspirants, and first-generation bureaucrats making it to the top.
