In a historic move towards electoral modernization, Bihar has become the first state in India to launch a mobile-based e-voting system, offering a seamless and secure way for citizens to cast their votes from the comfort of their homes.

What is the Bihar Mobile E-Voting System?
This cutting-edge platform allows registered voters, especially those who are outstation, elderly, or differently-abled, to vote using their smartphones. Developed under strict Election Commission guidelines, the system ensures end-to-end encryption, secure OTP-based verification, and real-time vote tallying to prevent tampering or fraud.

Who Can Use It?

Senior Citizens (above 80 years)

Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)

Outstation Workers

Students and professionals temporarily away from their registered constituency.

Voters must pre-register via the official state election portal and complete a KYC verification process to ensure authenticity.

Why Is This a Big Deal?

For decades, voter turnout among migrant workers and senior citizens has been a challenge. With this innovation, Bihar hopes to boost participation, reduce logistical challenges, and offer a blueprint for the rest of the country.

What’s Next?
The Election Commission of India is closely watching Bihar’s pilot rollout. If successful, mobile-based e-voting could go national, revolutionizing the way India votes — making the process more inclusive, accessible, and tech-driven.
