In a big Independence Day gift to highway commuters, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) today officially launched its much-awaited FASTag Annual Pass.
The pass, priced at Rs3,000, will allow up to 200 trips on National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, or remain valid for one year from activation, whichever comes first. The initiative aims to cut long queues, speed up toll clearance, and provide a more cost-effective option for frequent travellers.
How to get the FASTag Annual Pass starting today
From August 15, motorists can purchase the pass through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app (Google Play Store / Apple App Store) or via the official NHAI website.
Step-by-step activation process:
1. Download the Rajmarg Yatra app or log in to the NHAI portal.
2. Sign in using your registered mobile number or vehicle registration number (VRN).
3. Make sure your FASTag is active and not blacklisted.
4. Enter vehicle details and FASTag ID.
5. Upload required documents — RC, ID proof, address proof, and a passport-size photograph.
6. Pay Rs3,000 via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking (FASTag wallet balance cannot be used).
7. Receive SMS confirmation once activated — usually within 2 hours, though it may take up to 24 hours.
Benefits at a glance:
Faster travel: Minimal toll delays.
Convenience: No need to constantly recharge your FASTag wallet.
Savings: Ideal for regular highway users.
Key points to remember:
Only for private, non-commercial vehicles.
Not valid on state highways, city roads, or parking areas.
No auto-renewal — a new pass must be purchased each year.
After 200 trips, your FASTag reverts to standard pay-per-use mode.
With the launch today, NHAI expects lakhs of travellers to switch to the Annual Pass for smoother, faster, and stress-free highway journeys across India.
