The latest tranche of documents released in connection with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has sparked global attention—not just for the powerful names involved, but for an unexpected cultural reference. Files made public by the US Department of Justice mention India’s ancient Ayurvedic healing system and detox massage practices, highlighting their surprising presence in records linked to one of the most controversial figures of recent times.

Released following an executive order signed by former US President Donald Trump, the documents were made public within a 30-day deadline. While the disclosures largely focus on Epstein’s extensive social and political network, references to Ayurveda have stood out, drawing interest from health experts and cultural observers alike.

Ayurveda and ‘Detox’ Therapies in Focus
One document refers to massage techniques and Ayurvedic detox methods, noting the growing popularity of these practices in Western countries. The files cite descriptions similar to those found in texts such as The Art of Giving Massage, which discuss the use of sesame oil and natural therapies to draw toxins out of the body—a core principle of Ayurveda that dates back over 5,000 years.

Experts say the mention reflects Ayurveda’s expanding global footprint, as ancient Indian wellness traditions gain recognition far beyond their place of origin.

Political and Celebrity Names Surface
The Epstein files also reference several high-profile figures. According to the disclosures, Donald Trump appears in only a limited number of photographs, while multiple images of former US President Bill Clinton are mentioned. A photograph involving the late pop superstar Michael Jackson also features in the documents.
The US Justice Department has clarified that neither Trump nor Clinton has been charged or found guilty of any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, stressing that the presence of names or images does not imply criminal conduct.

Epstein’s Death and Lingering Questions
Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexually abusing and trafficking minors, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial—a death officially ruled a suicide. Despite this, questions surrounding his influence, connections, and alleged protection by powerful circles continue to fuel public debate.

More Disclosures Expected
Authorities have confirmed that the release is not yet complete, indicating that further documents may still emerge. As a result, political, legal, and ethical discussions surrounding the Epstein case are far from over.

A Surprising Cultural Footnote
Amid the controversy, the appearance of Ayurvedic references in these files serves as a reminder of India’s ancient wellness traditions finding space even in unexpected global narratives. While the Epstein case remains deeply troubling, this unusual detail highlights how Ayurveda has quietly entered mainstream global awareness.
