The admission process for Nursery, KG and Class 1 in Delhi Sarvodaya Vidyalayas for the academic session 2026-27 has officially begun from March 2, 2026. The Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of NCT of Delhi, has issued detailed guidelines for entry-level admissions in government schools across the capital.
Parents seeking admission for their children can collect application forms directly from the respective Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.

Important Dates and Timings
The issue and submission of application forms will continue till March 16, 2026 (inclusive), strictly on working days.
Morning & General Shift Schools: 08:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Evening Shift Schools: 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM
Authorities have clarified that admissions will not be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lottery System for Selection
If the number of applications exceeds the available seats, selection will be conducted through a transparent draw of lots (lottery system). This step has been introduced to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all applicants.
Eligibility Criteria & Age Limit
Admission is open only to children who are residents of Delhi.
Age Criteria (as on March 31, 2026):
Nursery: 3 to 4 years
KG: 4 to 5 years
Class 1: 5 to 6 years
Limited age relaxation may be provided as per government norms.
Preference will be given to children residing within 1 kilometre of the school. If seats remain vacant, applicants living within 3 kilometres may be considered.

Documents Required
Parents must submit:
Proof of residence in Delhi
Birth certificate of the child
Category certificate (if applicable)
Schools have been directed to strictly follow the admission schedule and ensure smooth implementation of the process.
With thousands of parents expected to apply, authorities have advised guardians to complete formalities within the deadline to avoid last-minute rush.
