In a landmark celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join lakhs of yoga enthusiasts in a massive event on the scenic 26-kilometre-long corridor from RK Beach, Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh. With an expected participation of over 3 lakh people performing yoga simultaneously, the event is aiming for a place in the Guinness World Records.
A Record-Breaking Vision by Andhra Pradesh
Under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh is turning Yoga Day into a historic movement, mobilising yoga sessions across 1 lakh centres statewide and expecting a total participation exceeding 2.39 crore registrations—a record in itself.
“Yogandhra, the month-long yoga awareness campaign, has prepared the ground for this mega spectacle,” CM Naidu announced, highlighting 15,000 yoga competitions and training sessions involving 5,451 master trainers and over one crore certified participants.
A Global Statement of ‘One Earth, One Health’
This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” echoes India’s commitment to wellness and sustainability. Special arrangements include 326 designated compartments along the corridor, 3.32 lakh T-shirts, and 5 lakh yoga mats to accommodate the massive turnout.
Over 25,000 tribal students will attempt a 108-minute Surya Namaskar marathon to set a new world record. Meanwhile, the state’s capital, Vizag, is preparing alternate venues for an additional 30,000 participants, ensuring no enthusiast is left out.
Tech-Savvy Security for a Grand Occasion
To secure this extraordinary event, over 1,200 CCTV cameras, drones, and 10,000 police personnel will monitor the corridor. A hi-tech police control room has been established to coordinate security and logistics as the Prime Minister and dignitaries arrive.
“Yoga is not just an exercise; it’s India’s gift to the world,” PM Modi is expected to highlight during the event, reinforcing India’s soft power on a global platform.
