In a major leap toward redefining India’s transportation future, the first section of the 21-km undersea tunnel for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train has been opened between Ghansoli and Shilphata in Maharashtra. This marks a historic engineering milestone for India’s first high-speed rail corridor, a joint project with Japan.
The undersea tunnel is part of the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, powered entirely by Japan’s cutting-edge Shinkansen technology, known worldwide for its speed, safety, and reliability.
E10 Shinkansen to Revolutionize Travel in India
In a testament to the strategic Indo-Japan partnership, India will debut the next-gen E10 Shinkansen trains, the same model being launched in Japan simultaneously. These trains will operate on the MAHSR line, offering Indian passengers a world-class bullet train experience at par with Japan’s best.
Currently, the E5 Shinkansen serves in Japan, but the E10 promises enhanced energy efficiency, comfort, and safety, setting new standards for Indian rail.
