Delhi Metro commuters are set to get major relief in last-mile connectivity as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has partnered with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) to introduce ‘Bharat Taxi’ services at 10 key metro stations across Delhi-NCR. The new service is expected to offer cheaper rides than Ola and Uber, making daily travel more convenient and pocket-friendly.
Under this initiative, passengers will be able to book bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, and cabs directly from metro stations through the Bharat Taxi platform, reducing dependence on expensive private cab aggregators and unauthorized vehicles.
Pilot Project Already Underway
Before rolling out the service citywide, DMRC has launched a pilot project at two high-footfall metro stations:
◆Millennium City Centre (Gurugram)
◆Botanical Garden (Noida)
The pilot bike taxi service will run until January 31. Based on passenger response and operational success, the service will be expanded to eight more busy metro stations identified through a passenger traffic survey.
Multiple Ride Options for Commuters
Passengers using Bharat Taxi will have access to:
Bike taxis for quick and short-distance travel
Auto-rickshaws for economical rides
Cabs for comfortable and longer journeys
DMRC officials said the selected stations will be those with heavy commuter movement, ensuring maximum benefit for daily passengers.

Cheaper Than Ola-Uber, More Reliable
A key advantage of this initiative is its cooperative model. Since Sahkar Taxi is a cooperative organisation, fare rates are expected to be lower and more stable compared to private ride-hailing platforms like Ola and Uber. Officials assured that the service will focus on transparency, passenger safety, and affordability.
Focus on Environment and Passenger Safety
DMRC said the initiative is also aimed at promoting environment-friendly transport and reducing air pollution in the capital. By providing authorised last-mile connectivity from metro gates to passengers’ destinations, the project will discourage the use of unregulated vehicles and ensure safer travel, especially during late hours.
A Big Relief for Daily Metro Users
For thousands of daily metro commuters who struggle with fare negotiations, long waits, or surge pricing after exiting stations, Bharat Taxi is expected to offer a smooth, safe, and cost-effective door-to-door travel solution.
