Ranchi. The Criminal Investigation Department’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has uncovered alleged money collection from candidates on the promise of securing jobs in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) examination paper leak case. During its investigation into the role of arrested accused Munna Singh, the SIT reportedly found that he had collected money from candidates by promising to help them secure employment.
During questioning, Munna Singh claimed that he had received ₹5 lakh from Kundan Kumar in his bank account on January 16, 2026. He reportedly described the transaction as a friendly loan taken to meet his father’s medical expenses.
However, a detailed investigation by the SIT allegedly revealed that Munna Singh was actively involved in the paper leak network and the group that made candidates memorise answers before the examination. Investigators suspect that he worked alongside Amit Singh, Kundan Kumar, Amit Lakra and other accused in the alleged operation.
The investigation further indicated that Munna Singh, along with other accused, had arranged for candidates to assemble at Hotel NK-07 in Kolkata. The hotel allegedly served as a location where candidates were made to memorise answers to examination questions before the test.
Two Insurance Agents Under Scanner
The CID’s SIT has also identified the alleged involvement of two insurance agents, Sandeep Kumar and Dharmaraj Kumar, in the case. Investigators suspect that both had direct links with members of the alleged paper leak network.
During a search, investigators reportedly recovered two blank cheques from Dharmaraj Kumar. The cheques were allegedly collected from candidates in connection with the suspected recruitment-related transactions.
A search of Sandeep Kumar reportedly led to the recovery of a bearer cheque worth ₹9 lakh issued in the name of Rajesh Kumar Yadav and another bearer cheque worth ₹8.40 lakh in the name of Naukhilal Yadav.
The two cheques recovered from Sandeep Kumar have a combined value of ₹17.40 lakh. Investigators are examining the circumstances in which the cheques were obtained and whether the amounts were linked to alleged payments made by candidates seeking government jobs.
Mobile Phones Seized, Technical Evidence Examined
As part of the investigation, the SIT has seized the mobile phones of both insurance agents. Investigators are examining technical evidence to establish their communications and possible links with other members of the alleged paper leak network.
The team is also looking into financial transactions, the purpose of the recovered cheques and the alleged role of intermediaries in collecting money from candidates.
The investigation into Munna Singh’s claimed ₹5 lakh loan is also significant, as the SIT is attempting to establish whether the transaction was genuinely a personal loan or was connected to the alleged recruitment racket.
Investigators are working to determine the respective roles of the accused, trace the flow of money and establish whether additional candidates or intermediaries were involved in the alleged operation.
The case centres on allegations that candidates were brought together before the JSSC CGL examination and made to memorise answers in exchange for money. The findings concerning the two insurance agents and the recovered cheques have added a financial dimension to the ongoing probe.
Further action will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation. The allegations against the accused remain subject to verification and judicial proceedings.
