Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a landmark nationwide campaign, the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’, on September 17 — his 75th birthday — alongside the 8th Poshan Maah, in what officials are calling India’s largest women and child health mobilisation in recent years.

A First-of-Its-Kind National Campaign
The initiative is a joint effort between the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD). It will run until October 2, bringing together government ministries, private hospitals, NGOs, and community groups in a whole-of-society push to improve women’s and children’s health across India.

Over one lakh health camps will be set up in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and other facilities, making this the biggest-ever outreach on nutrition and health.

Services on Offer

During the Abhiyaan, women and children will have access to:

◆Screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, plus lifestyle counselling.

◆Cancer detection through breast, cervical, and oral cavity screening.

◆Anaemia testing, nutrition services, and healthy diet demonstrations, especially targeting adolescent girls.

◆TB and sickle cell disease screening, with treatment linkages for tribal communities.

◆Maternal and child health care, including antenatal check-ups, immunisation, and infant nutrition counselling.

◆Blood donation drives, linked to the e-Raktkosh portal.

◆Digital health enrolments under PM-JAY and ABHA.

◆AYUSH services such as yoga sessions and Ayurveda consultations.

Whole-of-Government Approach
The campaign will converge efforts across ministries — including Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Youth Affairs, Tribal Affairs, and Education — as well as institutions like AIIMS, railway hospitals, defence hospitals, and ESIC facilities. Private hospitals are being urged to join this Jan Bhagidaari (people’s participation) effort.

At the grassroots level, ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi workers, self-help groups, and MY Bharat volunteers will lead door-to-door outreach and community mobilisation.

A Milestone on PM Modi’s Birthday
Choosing September 17 to launch the Abhiyaan is symbolic, underscoring the government’s emphasis on making health and nutrition a central pillar of Viksit Bharat 2047. Officials say the campaign builds on past successes like Mission Indradhanush and Poshan Abhiyaan but goes far beyond them in scale, integration, and focus on women.

If successful, the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan could mark a watershed moment in India’s public health journey — a birthday gift to the Prime Minister and a historic step forward for millions of women and children.
