Authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar have intensified their crackdown on illegal constructions and unauthorized colonies, with multiple enforcement actions carried out across Greater Noida and Noida over the past two weeks. Officials said more than 100 illegally constructed flats have been sealed during this period as part of a broader campaign to curb unauthorized development.
Continuing the enforcement drive, the Greater Noida Authority conducted a demolition operation on Thursday in the Rohillapur area, targeting illegal construction in the Hindon River floodplain zone.
Illegal construction demolished in notified area
According to officials, encroachments spread across nearly 18,000 square metres of floodplain land were demolished during the operation. The land falls under the Authority’s notified area, where construction without approval is strictly prohibited.
The action was carried out on the instructions of Greater Noida Authority CEO N.G. Ravi Kumar, with teams from the project and land records departments leading the demolition drive with police support.
Authorities said illegal colonisers were attempting to develop plots and establish an unauthorized residential colony in the flood-affected zone.
Authority warns against buying land without verification
Greater Noida Authority Additional CEO Sumit Yadav warned that strict action will continue against illegal construction carried out without approved building plans or permissions.
He also urged residents and property buyers to verify land ownership and approvals with the Authority’s land records department before making any purchase decisions.
Officials emphasized that investing in unauthorized colonies can lead to financial losses, as such properties may face demolition or sealing action in the future.

Action taken after complaints
Officials said the demolition followed complaints regarding illegal plotting on land identified as part of the Hindon floodplain, specifically in Khasra numbers 22 and 33 in Rohillapur.
The enforcement operation was led by the Authority’s Work Circle-3 team under the supervision of officials including Rajesh Kumar Nim and Love Shankar Bharti. The demolition drive lasted around two hours and was conducted in the presence of Authority security personnel and police.
Greater Noida Authority General Manager A.K. Singh confirmed that the action was initiated after receiving complaints about unauthorized plotting in the flood-risk zone.
Authorities said similar enforcement actions will continue across the district to prevent illegal urban expansion.
